About Me

I am a postgraduate masters student within Aberystwyth University's Computer Science Department. I am currently writing my masters dissertation. I am also engaged to my beautiful fiancé Layla who I am going to marry in the summer of 2012.
University
In July 2010 I graduated from the University of Wales, Aberystwyth (Aberystywth University) with a 2:1 in Mobile and Wearable Computing after 3 years of study and 1 year in industry working at Avolites.LtdAfter spending 3 months at Avolites.Ltd over the summer I retuned to Aberystywth University to start a MSc in Intelligent Autonomous Systems.
I have found that university has created a good grounding for further learning whether it's reading about it or just learning as you go. Both of my degree courses have have sparked extra interests or improved my existing interests futher. My undergraduate course has taught me java programming as well as little bit of C and C++, but has also taught me about mobile and emmbedded devices through several modules based around mobile, wearable and ubiquitous computing
Industrial Year
During my undergraduate degree I took a year in industry working for Avolites.Ltd who are lighting console manufacturer based in the North West London. My job mainly consisted of writing "personalities" for lighting fixtures, personalities convert light functions into DMX512 (a standard protocol used within the lighting industry).
I also spent about a quarter of my time maintaining various pieces of in-house software that were mainly written in VB.net and performing maintenance and upgrading the personalities website which was written in ASP.net with VB script which was slowly converted to ASP.net and C#.
I also produced a beta testing website to allow beta testers to sign up and download new beta versions of the software and log bugs found with this project was taken from requirements gathering stage right through the implementation and testing stages to deployment stages more details can be found on the project page.
